The political economy of urban poverty and environmental management in Asia: access, empowerment and community based alternatives

The political economy of urban poverty and environmental management in Asia describes the major environmental problems facing the urban poor in this regionand suggests the need for alternative avenues of action to address them. It concentrates on the current and potential role of community level initiatives, including what constrains their effectiveness and the pre-conditions for empowering and mobilizing the poor to manage their environment.
