Curitiba: towards sustainable urban development. Curitiba is best known for its innovative public transport system but this is only one among many initiatives which have improved the environment and reduced resource use. This paper describes the development of the public transport system and the planning and administrative framework needed to make it, and other environmental initiatives, work.
